#AmbassadorLife: Reporting for Duty!

What's goin on ladies and gents?! 

Have I ever told you all how much I LOVE being a USU Ambassador? Well...I flippin love it. It's pretty much the best job ever! Some of you may be asking yourselves "What in the heck is an Ambassador?" Let me do you the favor of giving you my own personal, (and perhaps simplified) definition: 

A USU Ambassador is a student representative who performs a variety of tasks in order to promote the university to prospective students.

One of our duties as an Ambassador is to participate in open houses. The open house is basically bringing Utah State to different places so that prospective students and their families are able catch a glimpse of everything that USU has to offer; the different colleges, student life, housing, scholarships and the best part...FREE AGGIE ICE CREAM! Sounds like a good time, right?! Check out the video below of the open house at the Salt Lake City Expo Center. (Shoutout to Abby Sugi for her outstanding dance performance at the end of the video!)

 In addition to that we also do recruitment visits to various high schools throughout Utah and Idaho. In fact, my favorite little cousin/fellow Ambassador 'Anapesi and myself went to Highland High school this week (GO RAMS!!!) to continue our recruitment quest! We chatted with a bunch of different students, answered their questions about college all the while making personal connections with each oher. These visits are so much fun for me because I enjoy the interaction I get with the students. I just love that I get to chat with them and establish that ground that they can hopefully feel comfortable enough to ask any question they have about USU or college life in general..and I just love sharing my experiences as Aggie most of all!

Apart from our recruitment and university promotion duties we also have weekly meetings to prepare and organize our Ambassador events. Sometimes we even hold other activities in place of the meeting time just to have a little fun. For example we've managed to have an Ambassador Halloween party as well as a Turkey Bowl Tournament this semester. It's always a good time when you catch a bit of a break from all the work to just have fun with the people you work with! This week we had the opportunity to  perform some service for our fellow community members in Logan. We specifically split into smaller groups and dispersed ourselves around town in order to bring little acts of service to all. My group came across a home in which needed the ice on their driveway to be chipped off. Even though it was freezing cold my group and I had a blast working together which also made the experience so great!

My experiences as an Ambassador thus far have been meant more to me than anything. It's not everyday that you have an opportunity to do what you love and love what you do. I love Utah State and I love being an Aggie. As an Ambassador I want to exude that Aggie pride and spirit to others. I fell in love with every aspect of this school and all I want is for others to fall in love with USU the same way I did. AGGIES ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!!

Up Close And Personal: USU vs. UNLV Game Day!!!

Oright, oright, oriiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!

What's up everyone?! Hope you all are having a marvellous week!

Who out there loves watching football?! I know I do! This past weekend I had the life-changing opportunity to watch our very own Aggie football team right the ON the sideline. I won't lie, standing on the field with a bunch of big dudes was a little bit intimidating. But hey! The experience was soooo unreal and I couldn't have been any more stoked to be there. I was also very lucky to able to catch my first time on Merlin Olsen Field on film! Check it out!

The final score of the game was 34-20 with another W for USU! Woooot, wooooot!

This particular game was a special one because it was Utah State's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game. From the players on the field to the fans in the stands, splashes of pink were found in support of breast cancer awareness. If it's one place that's excellent at bringing the community together for a cause it's Utah State. No matter what the cause is, I feel like Utah State knows how to bring the Aggie and Logan community together in order to raise awareness as well as form a common bond between everyone. 

Aggies who fight together, stay together.

HAPPY HOMECOMING WEEK!!!!

This has got to be my favorite week of the entire year. The traditions aspect of USU is definitely something that I adore about this school. I love the high energy and school spirit that exudes all around campus as everyone participates in homecoming week and celebrate being an Aggie! 

The first event on this week's homecoming schedule was the Mr. USU pageant! Male representatives from the universities colleges and organizations compete for the title of Mr. USU for the school year. The pageant consisted of an opening sequence, introductions, the talent portion and evening wear/question and answer portion. You may have noticed that my fellow Blue Crew member, Brandon Woodward, is in some of these pictures and videos. He did an absolute amazing job in this pageant as did the rest of the contestants for Mr. USU. ALSO, a shout out to our fellow USU Ambassadors Miles Brooks and Luis Armenta for reppin it out there as well!! You all did werk! The night was filled with laughs, great entertainment and discovering some talents that you didn't know your friends had. Like...really, Brandon? Who knew you could sing like that?! Stunning looks, a charming personality AND the voice of angel...I think you've instantly won the heart of every girl on campus tonight :) Kudos to all the Mr. USU contestants and thank you all for an entertaining and enjoyable night! Cafe Ibis & The Famous MARV N JOE

LIFE can be pretty overwhelming right? School, work, extracurricular activities..life can get way crazy. But hey! We all find our fun amidst all the chaos that occurs in our daily lives. My daily routine consists of work, class, meetings, homework, sleep. And then repeat. Sometimes I'll throw in a gym sesh in there but that's generally the main idea :) Apart from my student involvement I really do enjoy my job. I work at Cafe Ibis located in the Hub, which is one of the places to eat on campus. I never knew making coffee and serving baked good would be so much fun. It's also a bonus that my coworkers are the funnest people in the world to work with! Holla at my Ibis homies! We also sell Hazel's famous bread slices which everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) loves! My favorite type of bread to order is toasted caramel nut with regular butter. TOTALLY BOMB. Best combination of sweet and salty on a thick and fluffy slice of bread. It is truly magical. Since I have your attention, check out this quick vid on what a day in Cafe Ibis is like.

And since we're talking about favorites, let me just take a moment and explain to you all my favorite two things to order from Cafe Ibis. Everyday I order a 20oz iced chai latte and the famous Marv n Joe. Oh, what's a Marv n Joe you ask? Only the best snack you can get on campus! It consists of your choice of bread or bagel, topped with tomatoes, salt and pepper, olive oil, vinegar with a slice of provolone cheese on top and sprinkled with parmesan cheese to finish. Toast that sucker for a minute or so and BAM. You've got yourself a creation that is so delicious your taste buds will dance. I make tons and tons of Marv n Joe's a day so it's definitely a favorite amongst the students and faculty at USU. I highly recommend trying the Marv n Joe if you haven't done so already. It will change your life in ways you never thought your life could be changed :)

Just Some Friendly Competition: Access and Diversity Volleyball Tournament!

Alooooooooooha my friends!!

I hope your day is going just swell, I know mine is! How many of you love getting involved in clubs and organizations? My fellow Blue Crew member Chris just posted about Greek life so I just wanted to share one of the organizations on campus that I'm involved with. The Access and Diversity Center is an office on campus that is home to a variety of clubs and programs. One of the things that I've been involved with during my time here at USU are the multicultural clubs, more specifically with the Polynesian Student Union (PSU). 

I'm currently in my third year as a council member and it has been so great! I've personally gained some memorable experiences and have met some genuine people from being involved with Access and Diversity. This past weekend PSU hosted a volleyball tournament in which the clubs in the Access and Diversity Center were able to compete against each other. It was a close tourney but let's just say my team (PSU) put in WORK and killed it by coming in first place! Whoot, whoot! The Latin Student Union came in second place and the Asian Student Association came in third place. A little friendly competition is always fun, right? It was a good time and only made our bond as a group even stronger. Being involved with particular program has given me such fulfillment and I've honestly met some of my closest friends through these clubs. For me, getting into these clubs and organizations on campus have made my college worthwhile ; I love every bit of being involved with such a cool school!

I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN! I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN! I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!

WELL HELLO THERE! Don't mind me, I'm just over here getting pumped up with that Aggie spirit! We had our first home football game of the season this Saturday against Idaho State in which we won with a final score of 40-20! WOOT, WOOT! I really love going to athletic events here at USU; the atmosphere and school spirit is just too rad! Game day is a pretty big deal up here in Logan. As I ran my errands throughout the day I could see everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, in their gameday shirts ready for kickoff. Pretty awesome, huh? Let me be the one to tell you that Logan is a community that is committed to the Aggies in every way possible. That's probably my favorite thing about living in this town; Aggie pride is represented pretty much anywhere you go. Me and a couple of friends sat in the 5th row of the student section for the game and it was intense! The rush of being in a crowd with Aggies is an experience that you will have to have for yourself to understand just how thrilling it is. If it's one thing that I love about USU, it's the powerful school spirit that doesn't just bind the students, but the Logan community as whole to celebrate Aggie pride. A 12 minute drive from USU campus, the Wind Caves is a moderate 3 plus mile hike. Up and back in 2 hours with breathtaking views the entire way.

Back to School/Labor Day Weekend!!!

Hello, hello what's good everybody?! 

I hope you all are doing spectacular, I know I am! Just to introduce myself a little bit, my name is Julia and I am a senior at Utah State University studying International Studies. I love my life here as an Aggie and am so pumped to share my experiences with all of you! The first week of school at USU has passed by and let me tell you...it has been such a good time so far! The first week of school is always the best, there is so much to see and do on campus; High Stakes Bingo, Movie on the Quad, the 80's dance...sounds bomb, huh?
And Labor Day weekend was just as fun. Me and some of my buddies rode up to Bear Lake and spent the day chillin, playing volleyball and swimming. Bear Lake is one of my personal favorite places to visit. I'm a beach-bum at heart and love to do water activities and soak up the sun. It was nice to get one more lake trip in before the weather starts to get cooler.
I can feel that this year will be a good one so be sure to follow along in this Aggie adventure! I promise you won't regret it :) GO AGGIES!!!
